History
Hatton grew in the 1870s-80s as the railhead of the tea districts after coffee blight forced the switch to tea, and it remains the gateway to the plantations around Adam's Peak. From Nallathanniya (Dalhousie) at the foot of the mountain, pilgrims of four faiths have climbed to the summit's sacred footprint for centuries.
