History
Pahiyangala (Fa-Hien) cave near Bulathsinhala is one of South Asia's largest natural rock shelters and yielded human remains up to about 37,000 years old — among the earliest evidence of modern humans in the region. Local tradition names the cave after the Chinese monk Faxian, and a Buddhist temple now occupies its mouth.
